Crystal Palace supporters will be flocking to Wembley Stadium today for the Community Shield match against Liverpool. This traditional season opener pits the Premier League champions against the FA Cup winners in a contest for the first silverware of the season.
The Reds earned their spot in today's fixture after comfortably clinching the Premier League title last season. Palace, on the other hand, booked their place in the final and secured European football by defeating Manchester City at Wembley in May.
The last competitive encounter between these two teams was on the final day of the previous Premier League season. That match at Anfield ended in a 1-1 draw, with Ismaila Sarr's early goal being equalised late in the game by Mohamed Salah.
