If you are preparing for a government job, the Indian Railways has a great opportunity for you. The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has released a short notification for recruitment to positions such as Junior Engineer (JE), Depot Material Superintendent, and Chemical and Metallurgical Assistant (CMA). The application process for these positions will begin on October 31, 2025. Candidates can apply online by visiting the Railways' official website, rrbapply.gov.in.
The last date for applying for this recruitment is November 30, 2025. In case of any mistake while filling out the form, the Railways has also given them the opportunity to correct it. Applications can be corrected from December 3 to December 12, 2025. Therefore, candidates are advised to carefully check all information before submitting the form.
Who can apply?
Candidates applying for these positions must have a B.E./B.Tech degree in a relevant subject, or a diploma/degree in Computer Science/IT. Additionally, graduates with Chemistry and Physics are also eligible.
Age Limit
According to the Railway Recruitment Board, the minimum age for these positions is 18 years and the maximum age is 33 years. Age will be calculated as of January 1, 2026. Age relaxation will be given to reserved category candidates as per government regulations.
Selection Process
Selection for the Railways will not be based on a single exam, but through four stages. Candidates will have to undergo a written examination (CBT), document verification, and a medical test.
First Stage - CBT I
The first stage exam will consist of 100 questions, and candidates will be given 90 minutes to complete them.
 Questions will be asked from subjects such as Mathematics, General Intelligence, General Science, and General Awareness.
 There will be negative marking in the exam, with 1/3 of a mark deducted for each wrong answer.
Second Stage - CBT II
The second stage exam will consist of 150 questions and the time allotted is 120 minutes.
 Questions will be asked from technical subjects, physics, chemistry, computers, environment, and general awareness.
 There will be no negative marking in this exam.
Third Stage - Document Verification
Candidates who pass both CBT stages will have their documents verified.
Fourth Stage - Medical Examination
Before final selection, candidates will undergo a medical fitness test to ensure they are fully qualified for railway service.
Salary:
Candidates selected in this recruitment will receive a salary of ₹35,400 per month. The Railways will also provide various government benefits, including dearness allowance, travel allowance, medical facilities, and pension benefits.
Application Fee:
General, OBC, and EWS category candidates will have to pay a fee of ₹500. Fee exemptions are available for SC, ST, women, and disabled candidates. Candidates can pay the fee through debit card, credit card, or net banking.
