India and Canada on Friday held an important meeting to reset ties and revive dialogue across sectors. Officials of the Ministry of External Affairs and Global Affairs Canada held pre-foreign office consultations here. The Indian delegation was led by MEA secretary (east) P Kumaran, while the Canadian side was led by deputy foreign minister David Morrison.
The pre-consultations follow the bilateral meeting between Prime Ministers Narendra Modi and Mark Carney on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in Kananaskis, Canada, on June 17. Earlier this week, India and Canada held NSA-level talks in New Delhi, marking the thaw in ties since the fallout over the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar in 2023.
The discussions provided an opportunity to review the state of India-Canada relations and exchange views on other international and regional issues.
