Bhadrapada Ganesh festival: Preparations have begun for the ten-day Ganesh festival, filled with devotion, joy, and reverence. Whenever the month of Bhadrapada arrives, the minds of devotees are immersed in the worship of Lord Shri Ganesha. Homes and courtyards are decorated to welcome Bappa, and the atmosphere resounds with the chants of "Ganpati Bappa Morya". This festival is not just an occasion for worship, but becomes a festival of an intimate relationship between the devotee and God. In Hinduism, Chaturthi Tithi is considered to be specially dedicated to Lord Ganesha, but the place of Chaturthi of Bhadrapada Shukla Paksha is very special. After all, why does Ganesh Utsav start from this day? And what is the spiritual significance of this date? Let us know in detail the traditions and religious beliefs associated with this holy festival.

Birth of Lord Ganesha
According to mythological belief, Mother Parvati produced Lord Ganesha from the divine soil of her body. She made him stand outside as a gatekeeper, and she went for a bath. At the same time, Lord Shiva arrived there, but Ganesha stopped him from entering. Seeing this, Lord Shiva became angry and he beheaded Ganesha. When Mother Parvati came to know about this, she became extremely distraught and warned of bringing about a catastrophe.
Giving life to the head of an elephant
To calm the severe anger of Mother Parvati, Lord Shiva decided to revive Ganesha. He ordered his ganas to go towards the north and bring the head of the first creature who was sleeping and whose mother had her back towards him. One such elephant was found, and Lord Shiva brought its head and attached it to the body of Ganesha. Thus, Ganesha was revived, and he was called "Gajamukh" or "Gajanan". From then on, he also got the blessing of being "Pratham Pujya," and this day was considered extremely auspicious.
Beginning of the writing of the Mahabharata
According to another belief, Lord Ganesha started writing the Mahabharata on the Chaturthi date of the Shukla Paksha of the Bhadrapada month at the behest of Maharishi Ved Vyas. Before writing this holy text, Ganesh ji had laid down a condition that he would not stop writing in between, and Ved Vyas ji would have to read without stopping. This great work was started at this speed. This is the reason why this date is also considered special from the intellectual and spiritual point of view.

Importance of Ganesh Chaturthi
Both these beliefs are related to the grace of Lord Ganesha, his intelligence, and the removal of obstacles in life. These religious events are the reason for the beginning of Ganesh Utsav on Bhadrapada Shukla Chaturthi. Starting from this day, this festival, lasting for ten days, is not just a religious festival, but a spiritual journey, in which devotees connect with their idol and wish for freedom from the troubles of life.
