Ex-Liverpool starAndre Wisdom admits he should never have attended the party that saw him stabbed FOUR times. The defender was embroiled in a shocking incident in June 2020 having been set on by a group of masked attackers, who had attempted to steal his watch.
Wisdom - then with Derby County - was brutally stabbed in the head, thigh, chest and buttocks. Somehow, he managed to drive home but has since admitted that he should never have put himself in that situation in the first place.
Speaking to BBC Sport, Wisdom said: "I shouldn't have been there. I should have been at home recovering after the game, but it was lockdown and I was eager to be outside.
"I was leaving the party by myself, walking to my car. I was on the street and there were about five guys, balaclavas and knives. They said: 'Give us your watch.' I said no and a fight started.
"I didn't have time to run. I should have used my head but pride got in the way.

"Loads of people came out of the party after about five minutes of fighting. The attackers ran off and I was left covered in blood on the street. Everything happened really quickly.
"I was able to drive home, which was about a 15-20 minute journey. Adrenalin probably kept me going but only when I was home did I realise I'd been stabbed multiple times. I checked my thigh and the muscle was almost hanging out of the wound. That's when I phoned for an ambulance."
Following the attack, Wisdom was quickly rushed to hospital and required two operations to fix his wounds. He then somehow returned to action for Derby just three months later.
And despite making a full recovery, the now 32-year-old is still feeling the effects. Wisdom has admitted that he maybe rushed his comeback in the East Midlands and found that his body wasn't quite the same. He added: "Doctors say I have severe nerve damage down my left side as a result of what happened.

“I was stabbed in my head and today I still get headaches. It seems like a piece of me is gone. I get dull aches, it's borderline pain."
Wisdom remained with Derby until the end of the 2020/21 campaign. In an attempt to find a new club following his release by the Rams, he had trials with Portsmouth, Birmingham, Sheffield United and even Polish side Warta Poznan.
After nearly two years out of the game, Wisdom returned to football with sixth-tier outfit Warrington Town, while he then moved to Irish side Derry City. And determined not to give up on his career, Wisdom has just penned a deal with FC United of Manchester.
Despite still having ambitions of taking to the pitch, Wisdom is just thankful that he’s alive. He said: "I was in the wrong place at the wrong time. It happens everywhere. Thank God I'm good and that I made it through."
