ITV Beat The Chaser's Mark Labbett says 'I'll get my coat' as player wins £100,000

Beat The Chasers star Mark Labbett quipped "I'll get my coat" and made his exit after a contestant snatched a staggering £100,000 from under his nose.

The Chase spin-off returned on Sunday (August 31) with Mark - dubbed The Beast on the ITV programme - experiencing a rather shaky beginning.

The quizzer left viewers stunned when he presented firefighter Gavin with an opportunity to take on him and his fellow Chasers Darragh 'The Menace' Ennis, Paul 'The Sinnerman' Sinha, Anne 'The Governess' Hegerty and The Vixen, Jenny Ryan, in a race against time for a potential £100,000.

Mark branded the alternative offers, spanning from £4,000 to £50,000, as "stingy".

"I'm going reduce the time to 40 seconds on our clock and you'll be playing for £100,000!" he declared, reports Bristol Live.

Following some deliberation, Gavin chose to accept the challenge. "I'm only here once," he remarked. "I think I can take on five Chasers."

Whilst the audience erupted in applause, Mark admitted: "It's on me if he wins!"

Addressing host Bradley Walsh, he laughed: "Brad, can I write a post-dated check if he wins this one please?"

"It's a funny way to hand your notice in!" the presenter responded.

The timer began and Gavin raced through the questions, firing out rapid responses and securing the enormous jackpot with four seconds remaining. He dropped to his knees in disbelief whilst the Chasers rose to their feet and applauded.

Brad teased: "Beastie, you'd best leave now."

Mark chuckled: "Firstly, well played, Sir. Secondly, I'll get my coat!" He then rose from his seat and vanished backstage, leaving his fellow Chasers laughing.

"Where has The Beast gone?" Bradley asked, looking confused. "Where has he gone? He's actually gone?"

The Chase first hit our TV screens in 2009 and launched its spin-off, Beat The Chasers, where contestants attempt to outsmart up to five Chasers for hefty cash prizes, in 2020.
