Katherine Ryan's husband reveals water-ski accident left him with a 'micro penis'

Katherine Ryan’s husband Bobby Kootstra has revealed a water-skiing accident left him briefly fearing he had developed a micro penis.

The Canadian former childhood sweetheart of the comedian shared the story during an episode of their podcast, where the couple often speak candidly about their lives. Bobby explained that the accident happened when he was trying out a child’s water jet ski with a friend. What started as a bit of fun quickly went wrong.

“I got pulled up [on the ski] and like, one leg drags,” he said. “And then I just felt a pop.” The immediate pain was followed by something even more worrying. Bobby said he noticed his penis looked unusually small in the days afterwards. “There was like shrinkage, from a cold pool, for a week and I was like, ‘what is going on here?’”

He admitted that his first reaction was panic. “Why is it so small?” he asked, before revealing he had turned to Google for answers. “I had to google, ‘torn groin, small penis’. It does happen because of the injury and the muscles - it just kind of shrunk into itself.”

By medical definition, a micro penis is a penis measuring 3.6 inches or less when erect. Bobby joked that although he matched the description after his accident, he was relieved to learn the cause was linked to the injury rather than an unrelated medical condition. “I knew at least it was because of this that my penis is so tiny now,” he said.

Katherine responded in her typically sharp style, pointing out that her husband had already fathered four children before the accident. “You’ve had a good run,” she told him.

Bobby laughed and agreed, adding: “I was thinking the same thing, I am like, ‘what do I even need a penis for now?’” Katherine playfully replied: “Great, thanks.”

It comes after Katherine admitted to having a "secret hot romance" with a famous celebrity in a candid confession.

She confessed that while she hasn't dated anyone famous "traditionally", she did have a short lived romance with a very well-known person. Katherine married her childhood sweetheart Bobby in 2019, and they share son Fred, four, and daughter Fenna, two.

They fell in love as teenagers but split and Katherine had daughter Violet, 16. Before reuniting 20 years after their separation, Katherine had a wild time in the dating pool.

She revealed: “I once had a secret hot romance, like famous famous hot guy.” However, Katherine said she had to be "discreet" about their fling as she added: “He wasn’t that famous yet but I knew he was hot but everyone else has been pretty ugly.”

Speaking of her love life to Jamie Laing on his Great Company podcast, she admitted: “The hotter I was, I was dating the uglier. Bobby just happens to be good looking but that’s not my type.

“Everyone was a psychotic narcissist and they probably say horrible things about me.” Katherine has been open about challenges in her marriage to Bobby after they rekindled in 2018 and wed a year later.

The TV star shared: “I remember everything in my life. Bobby, I remember any discretion. Sometimes in therapy they are like ‘let that go’ and I’m like I can’t. I love him but I don’t trust him. I remember what he did to me when we were 16.”

In 2018, Katherine appeared in an episode of the ancestry show Who Do You Think You Are? which saw her head back to her native Canada to explore her family's history. While in a pub in Ontario, she ran into her old flame Bobby and sparks began flying all over again.

However, the couple have had to contend with scrutiny as some claimed Bobby had only returned to Katherine because of her success.

With her usual wit, Katherine addressed the criticism during an interview with Louis Theroux, explaining: "Like, if it's fun for people to believe that Bobby's only using me for money and I've had loads of plastic surgery and this and that, then that's great that I know that and can use that because my job is to make them laugh."

Katherine is currently expecting her third child with Bobby and is convinced she is having a boy. While filming her outfit in a mirror at her home, Katherine told the camera: "I could not have picked a better time to get a full length mirror in the corridor. Just got me feeling great..."

She referenced her bump as she added: "This has got to be a boy." However, she continued: "We don't know. We never know. A lot of people ask me and it's like, come on."
