The doctor has told the four reasons which are most responsible for increasing sugar. It is very important for everyone to pay attention to this and control/improve it.
Blood Sugar Increase: The problem of increased blood sugar is being seen in people of all ages nowadays. The condition of high blood sugar (diabetes) can affect health in many ways, this is why health experts advise everyone to take measures to keep it under control. Is your sugar level often high?
Health experts say that people above the age of 30 should get their sugar levels checked every six months on the advice of a doctor. This will tell you if you have also become a victim of this disease?
According to the report of the International Diabetes Federation, about 54 crore people in the world are suffering from diabetes and due to the rapidly increasing cases in India, it has come to be called the Diabetes Capital of the World. This is not just a disease of eating sweets but it is a serious problem related to the disturbance of the insulin hormone inside the body. If it is not controlled on time, then the heart, kidneys, eyes and nerves can get damaged.
Now the question is that due to which habits the sugar level in our body becomes more than normal?
How does sugar level increase?
Doctors say, when we eat food, the carbohydrates present in it get converted into glucose (sugar) and reach the blood. Under normal circumstances, the hormone insulin is released from the pancreas, which transports this glucose to the cells of the body so that it can be converted into energy. But when insulin is not produced in sufficient quantity or the cells do not use insulin properly, glucose starts accumulating in the blood. This is called increased blood sugar.
Continuous sugar levels above 120 mg/dl are considered diabetes.
In a conversation with Amar Ujala, endocrinologist Dr. Wasim Gauhari has told four reasons that can be responsible for increasing sugar. It is very important for all people to pay attention to this and control/improve it.
Lack of sleep is not good.
Doctors say that those who sleep less than 7 hours are more likely to have insulin resistance and worsening sugar levels. Good sleep is an important part of diabetes management. Lack of sleep disrupts the body's circadian rhythm and the regulation of important hormones like insulin and cortisol, making it difficult for cells to absorb glucose. This can also increase the desire to eat sweet foods, which increases the risk of type-2 diabetes.
Too much fasting is also not good
Intermittent fasting may work for some people. But fasting without guidance activates stress hormones, which can increase the risk of sugar levels increasing.
Research shows that if fasting is not done properly, it can also lead to high sugar. People with diabetes or insulin resistance are especially at higher risk. To prevent a rise in blood sugar during fasting, drink plenty of water, eat a balanced meal before and after fasting, and avoid sweet beverages.
Diabetic patients should definitely consult a doctor before fasting or starting any special diet plan.
Are you suffering from chronic stress?
Being stressed can worsen diabetes. When you are stressed, hormones become active in the body that increases glucose levels.
In a state of stress, your body releases hormones like cortisol and adrenaline. When the levels of these hormones are often high, they cause insulin resistance, which hinders the absorption of glucose (sugar) by your cells, which can increase the risk of diabetes.
Eating late at night
Many people eat late at night and go to sleep immediately. This reduces the insulin sensitivity of the body and the sugar level starts increasing.
Eating late at night, especially food rich in carbohydrates and unhealthy fats can cause an increase in blood sugar levels. The body has to work harder to control glucose at night. This can lead to a risk of sugar as well as weight gain. Experts recommend eating early in the evening, including things rich in fiber-protein and healthy fats.
