Team India's star player Mohammed Siraj played a crucial role during the Test series against the West Indies. He was named Impact Player of the Year in the Indian team dressing room after the series.
New Delhi: Indian fast bowler Mohammed Siraj has been awarded the "Impact Player" medal for his outstanding performance in the home Test series against the West Indies. Siraj took a total of 10 wickets in the series, the most among all fast bowlers.
Excellent performance in the West Indies Test series
Siraj impressed everyone with his bowling in the 2-0 Test series win against the West Indies. In the first Test in Ahmedabad, he took full advantage of the green pitch, taking seven wickets, helping India register a comprehensive innings and 140-run victory. However, in the second Test in Delhi, the pitch was less favorable for fast bowlers, but Siraj continued to work hard. He bowled 49 overs in the entire series, just short of Jasprit Bumrah's 51.5 overs.
He was presented with the Impact Player Medal in the dressing room by wicketkeeper-batsman N. Jagadeesan. On this honor, Siraj said, "Honestly, this series has been great... Taking one wicket here in Delhi felt like taking five wickets. Because as a fast bowler, when you see the fruits of your hard work, it boosts your confidence and makes you happy."
Big responsibility in Australia ODIs
Siraj won't get much rest now, as he will lead the Indian bowling attack in the upcoming ODI series against Australia, which begins on October 19th. Jasprit Bumrah has been rested for this series, so the 31-year-old will have the significant responsibility of leading the team's bowling attack in this crucial three-match series. Team India departed for Australia on October 15th
