Manchester United's defeat to Arsenal highlighted their need for further reinforcements, despite the promising debut of Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo. The Red Devils' new forwards were shining lights in an otherwise disappointing match, which saw goalkeeper Altay Bayindir's error lead to Arsenal defender Riccardo Calafiori's decisive goal.
Off the field, United are still working on offloading several players and are said to be addressing their goalkeeping situation. However, their transfer plans have hit a few snags. Here we take a look at what is happening on the United transfer front as the Red Devils look to shift players before the transfer window shuts on September 1.
Jadon Sancho decisionRoma reportedly tabled a £20million bid for the England international Sancho, who has expressed his wish to leave Old Trafford after Chelsea decided against making his loan move permanent.
However, Sancho has now seemingly rejected the moveafter Italian media reported that United had agreed to an initial loan deal with Roma, with an obligation to buy.
Roma manager Gian Piero Gasperini had also reportedly discussed his plans for Sancho. The club are now expecting to shift their attention to other targets, including Aston Villa's Leon Bailey.
Meanwhile, Besiktas, under the management of ex-United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, are said to be eyeing up Sancho for a summer transfer and held contact two weeks ago to discuss the conditions of a deal.
Fulham are reportedly keen on signing Rasmus Hojlund, but the forward is looking to rejuvenate his career outside the Premier League if he departs United. Despite expressing his wish to remain at Old Trafford, the 22-year-old was notably absent from the squad for the season opener against Arsenal.
According to The Daily Mail, Fulham see Hojlund as a potential replacement for Rodrigo Muniz, who is being courted by Atalanta. However, they face stiff competition from AC Milan, who have proposed a £4.5m loan deal with an option to buy for £39m, and it seems Hojlund is leaning towards a move overseas.

AC Milan's sporting director Igli Tare confirmed their interest in the United striker, telling Mediaset: "Hojlund is a good option for us. We are thinking about him, but in the transfer market, you never know what could happen."
However, it's been suggested that United's hopes of Milan meeting their asking price for Hojlund hinge on Dusan Vlahovic's future. The Juventus forward is high on Milan's wishlist, but no agreement has been reached regarding a fee or contract, and any positive progress may scupper Hojlund's chances of heading to Milan.

Amorim took the brave decision to select Bayindir over Onana for the Arsenal clash, but the choice merely exposed the Red Devils' goalkeeping concerns.
United have been linked with a swoop for PSG's Gianluigi Donnarumma, though Antwerp's Senne Lammens has emerged as an alternative option. The 23-year-old cemented his position as the Belgian side's number one during the previous campaign.
Het Laatste Nieuws, who reported United's interest, previously stated that it is "crystal clear" Lammens will depart the club this summer. Antwerp have already secured his replacement and slapped a £17.2m valuation on the goalkeeper.
Nevertheless, Amorim's team could face disappointment in their pursuit of Lammens' signature, with The Telegraph revealing that Inter are driving forward to capture the shot-stopper. Belgian publication HLN suggests that the Italian powerhouses regard Lammens as a possible heir to 36-year-old Yann Sommer.
Alejandro Garnacho stands amongst the numerous players who have expressed their wish to depart United. The winger notably displayed his disappointment after being relegated to the substitutes' bench for last season's Europa League final.
Garnacho, 21, remains a target for Chelsea and is reported to have already reached personal terms. Nevertheless, United are insisting on approximately £50m for the promising winger.
The club consider Garnacho's worth should mirror the £52m Chelsea pocketed from offloading Noni Madueke to Arsenal. Whilst United are anticipating a bid from Chelsea, there has been an indication of the current fan sentiment towards Garnacho.
On Sunday, a mural of Garnacho near Old Trafford was vandalised with what seemed to be an 'X' scrawled over the Argentinian's face.
