People with jobs in certain professions are being urged to claim a free Christmas dinner before November 17.
Greene King is dishing up 30,000 free main meals to shift workers across its pubs in December so those who work through Christmas don't miss out on the festivities. The pub chain is hosting an alternative celebration nationwide on December 1 dubbed 'The Big Christmas Shift' to allow eligible workers to enjoy a free Christmas dinner. The event will give those who will be working on December 25 to have their own moment to relax and enjoy all the trimmings ahead of the festive rush.
Greene King says it will be giving away 30,000 free main meals across its participating pubs nationwide on December 1, with 10,000 of the meals being exclusively reserved for Blue Light Card holders.
A Blue Light Card is the UK's leading discount service for people who have jobs in the emergency services, NHS, social care sector, teaching community and the armed forces.
Workers with jobs in the following professions are all eligible to get a Blue Light Card and so will be able to sign up for a free main meal at a Greene King pub on December 1:

Once signed up, workers simply need to wait until December 1 when Greene King will send an email with a voucher that can be used at any of its participating pubs for a Christmas meal.
Blue Light Card chief marketing officer Neil Caldicott said: "Millions of our members, including NHS workers and emergency services, will be giving up their own Christmas Day to keep the nation running, and we're passionate about making sure those people are celebrated.
"We're thrilled to support Greene King as they offer their thanks and hope our members enjoy a moment to relax, enjoy a festive meal, and feel recognised for the vital work they do every day."
