The Walking Dead fans are revisiting the very first episode of its Daryl Dixon spin-off following the launch of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 3 this week. The third season of the Sky show, filmed in Spain, follows Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) and Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride) as they try to find their way back home.
The pair must travel to distant lands in terrifying conditions as they witness more of the devastation caused by the Walker apocalypse.
Popular UK comedian Stephen Merchant makes a guest appearance, while Eduardo Noriega, Óscar Jaenada and Alexandra Masangkay join as series regulars.
As they prepare to watch season 3 of the AMC show, viewers are going back to the opening sequence of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, which features a surprise vocal cameo from Judith Grimes (Cailey Fleming).
In the first scene of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, it is hard to hear Judith's line as it is partly obscured by ambient noise.
However, we can hear the character say in a voiceover: "You deserve a happy ending too."
This line is not new, as the quote originally comes from The Walking Dead season 11's ending.
It was what Judith said to Daryl before he departed the Commonwealth on journey that led him to France.
We get the impression from the opening sequence that Judith's advice has stuck with Daryl, as it seems to be ringing in his ears.
There are a few different interpretations of what Judith's line means in The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon.
Given the fact that the words open the show, this indicates the words are of great significance to Daryl.
The most obvious way to interpret what Judith says is that Daryl deserves to go home and enjoy a warm reunion with his loved ones.
The other way to read the line is that Darly will actually find his "happy ending" along the way, as he continues to journey through Europe.
Daryl became a parental figure to Judith after season 9, following Rick Grimes' capture and Michonne's quest to find him.
While her fate remained undetermined in The Walking Dead's main series, fans find out what happens to her in spin-off show The Ones Who Live.
Throughout the series, Michonne sees Judith in flashbacks after failing to contact her via radio, as she and Rick continue to look for one another.
In the final episode, the reunited pair successfully escape from Jadis and the CRM and return to the Commonwealth, where Michonne is able to contact Judith and assure her that her parents are on their way home.
Rick and Michonne are then seen rushing through an open field to finally reunite with Judith and RJ in the Commonwealth.
Judith hugs Rick and tells him she never lost faith he was still alive, as the father is finally able to meet his son RJ for the first time.
The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 3 premiered this Friday, October 24 on Sky and is available to watch alongside seasons 1 and 2 on Sky Max.
