Chargesheet filed against ex-Punjab minister Bikram Singh Majithia in corruption case

The Punjab government has taken a step in its crackdown on drug trafficking and political corruption by filing a comprehensive chargesheet against former state cabinet minister Bikram Singh Majithia .

A 140-page chargesheet against Majithia was filed by the Punjab Vigilance Bureau following an extensive investigation into alleged corruption and illegal accumulation of assets.

The final report includes nearly 45,000 pages of evidence and scrutiny of around 400 bank accounts. Testimonies from more than 200 witnesses have been recorded as part of the investigation.

During the probe, raids were conducted at 15 locations across multiple states, uncovering 30 properties, 10 vehicles and 15 companies or firms linked to Majithia. The chargesheet alleges that Majithia acquired assets worth approximately Rs 700 crore, exceeding his known sources of income by 1200 per cent.

The chargesheet has been formally submitted to the court along with the supporting documents. Officials said the investigation was conducted to examine allegations of corruption and misuse of political office.
